The Wellborn 400 Series casement and double-hung windows use a specific 3/8-inch pivot bar that is not interchangeable with the 5/16-inch bar found on older 300 Series units. If you’re trying to match hardware, check the etched code in the glass corner or the sticker on the top of the sash rail; the series number and manufacturing date will be there.

The catch is the balance system: Wellborn’s constant-force coil balances are proprietary in length and spring rate, so an aftermarket substitute that fits the channel may not carry the sash weight correctly in Santa Clarita’s dry climate, where wood sashes shrink seasonally and the balance works harder. • The multipoint lock won’t engage smoothly. The keeps have shifted, or the gearbox has worn from dirt accumulation in the track. We disassemble, clean, and lubricate with a dry Teflon compound; if the gearbox is stripped, we match the backset and faceplate screw pattern to the replacement.
